Quoted from his book "Malta Spitfire" As we came over the city of Calais five Focke-Wulfs dived to cut me out from the tail position---and they did. The first burst put cannon shells through both my wings. I did a quick flick and headed up into the sun, but the Huns had seen me and followed. They had more speed than I, as they had just pulled out of a dive and they went right past me in the glare, going up. I pulled up sharply and took a bead on the one in the middle. By then he must have been about 300 yards away. The shots my own ship had taken had put my port guns out of action and my starboard cannon was practically dangling out of the wing. That left me with nothing but my two starboard machine guns. Anyways, I let go the nearest thing to a burst that I could fire and must have been covered with diamonds, for the guy simply blew up with a hell of an explosion. I must have copped him in the oxygen bottles. The wings fell apart. The fuselage broke in two. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on.
